Amiibo is an optional enhancement platform by Nintendo, which allows compatible figurines to link with supported video games, allowing the transfering of data into and out of a supported game, and possibly between supported platforms. This is accomplished on Wii U console through the Wii U GamePad, and through an NFC adaptor on the Nintendo 3DS.
