StreetPass

Illustration of the StreetPass function.

StreetPass is a feature used on the Nintendo 3DS. With it, players can exchange game data with players and obtain the Miis of 3DS users that walk past them, which means that the player's 3DS gets close enough to someone else's 3DS. Unlike its sister feature SpotPass, it doesn't need a WIFI connection is not needed for StreetPass to be used. This means that the service still works after Nintendo shut down the 3DS online servers.

If one wishes, they can turn the feature off completely or assign the games that they want it to work with. The LED notifier of the upper right side of the Nintendo 3DS (when closed) alerts players when data has been exchanged with another user whether it be through StreetPass or SpotPass with a blinking green LED color. StreetPass is heavily used in StreetPass Mii Plaza.
